December 2012, Brion of Premier Planning Group (PPG) in Annapolis, MD wanted to give back to his clients and community during the holidays. Each year the PPG group of Annapolis, MD has planned a holiday party for clients as a “Thank You” for their business.  While they  have hosted a number of events throughout the year as part of creative marketing, the holiday party  has been  just for fun. PPG’s clients always look forward to their holiday party more than any other party of the year, so PPG really tries to go above and beyond each time!  Over the past few years they have focused on parties around different themes, and this year’s 2012 theme was “An Evening in Paris” so hiring live artist Brian Olsen was perfect in fitting their theme. Leading up to Olsen’s performance, 240 guests entered the Governors Calvert House and were greeted by mimes and jugglers who led them to the grand foyer.  It’s ceiling was decorated with strings of twinkling lights that lit up tables of French food delights such as crepes and duck comfit. Parisian bistro music filled the air as guests mingled and sipped complimentary drinks served from a French Martini Bar. Guests took advantage of a dress up room containing costumes such as a chef coat and hat, artist palette and brushes, berets and laughed as they had their photos taken against a winter or Arch de Triump back drop set up by photographers Marcus Chacona and Glenn Miller.

As the event transformed into a complete evening in Paris, guests were invited into the main ballroom to experience Brian Olsen paint four portraits from his repertoire live. Guests watched in wonder, trying to figure out who he was doing next, while he put the pieces together. “ I especially loved watching the Ray Charles portrait, because even though I knew that it was not being done straight up and down and would be flipped, I still could not envision the finished product until he flipped it!  My favorite part was his energy and enthusiasm, he really gets in to his performance, running,jumping, and painting- it just made the process more real and all the more powerful. You felt like you were part of the performance and show, not just watching someone paint,” said event planer  Talia. Brian Olsen’s performance helped complete PPG’s theme for the evening, and everyone was really excited and amazed by his performance and entertained  by the personal stories he shared about his creative process.  At the conclusion of the event, Olsen’s paintings were utilized in a silent auction for the guests which  raised $4000.oo that was donated to Linda’s Legacy- a local charity that provides much needed clothing and supplies for local homeless.

Brion of PPG  is always looking to do special things not only for his clients, but also for his children and the community. He  knew that his own kids and their classmates would greatly benefit and love to have the same experience at their school!  He shared his idea with Brian Olsen and the following morning, he created an incredibly memorable, once in a lifetime type of event for students at  Arnold Elementary School! Olsen painted Albert Einstein for students in grades K-2 and Abraham Lincoln for students in grades 3-5.  Students were amazed by the performance, and wondered how Brian could paint that way! “We were shocked at how quickly our students actually were able to guess who Brian was painting!” said principal Shauna Kauffman. She was happy and thankful to have such a unique type of performance.  The paintings now hang in both the art and music hallways of the school for everyone to see!

Olsen hopes that each time a guest, teacher or student passes by his paintings, they will remember his lesson, “Anything is possible through creativity.”

October 12th, 2012 Brian Olsen took the stage at The Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona for an incredible one-night performance for a corporate client’s anniversary celebration. Olsen fired up the guests as he created four paintings back to back from his repertoire. With so much delight and desire from the group to purchase Olsen’s finished masterpieces, the client secured the paintings for a good cause by throwing an impromptu auction with the funds donated to various charities.

(Denver, CO, October 3, 2012) – As University of Denver students, faculty and staff celebrated their role as the host of the presidential debate with Debate Fest- a free, ticketed, on-campus, outdoor event with food, live music, activities-followed by a live, outdoor telecast of the debate, Brian Olsen Art In Action showcased his world renowned painting performance during the debate- fest on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 .

Olsen simultaneously painting both President Barack Obama and Governor Mitt Romney at the University of Denver hosted Debate Fest.  Olsen captivated the audience which was made up of University of Denver students, faculty, staff, alumni and members of the University  neighborhood.

Olsen’s art has been described as an experience that encompasses all the senses. As he takes the stage and moves before a six-foot black canvas, the music begins to play and the paint starts to fly. At times painting with six brushes at once or sometimes just using his bare hands, Olsen paints to the rhythm of the music and in an average of 8-10 minutes a portrait appears.

Brian Olsen Paints Bruce Springsteen at Sugar House Casino at 4th of July Celebration

General manager, Wendy Hamilton, of Sugar House Casino wanted the city of Philadelphia to see something they have never seen before, so the casino transformed it’s Delaware River property into a summer beach oasis, complete with misting tents to keep visitors cool from the sizzling heat, beach games, food, and entertainment.  The area was complete with 30 live palm trees from Florida and more than 100 tons of sand arranged and groomed by Penncora Events across a 7,000 square foot space.

Sugarhouse Casino was able to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary for their 4^th of July week on the waterfront by utilizing Olsen’s performance.  Can’t wait to see what they will unveil next!

Brian Olsen Performs at One Mayfair for Deutsche Bank. Produced by TBA.

On June 14th, with Euro 2012 in full force, Brian Olsen’s performance was no exception at One Mayfair. Olsen performed during an exclusive event for Deutsche Bank produced by TBA. His explosive performance upon the alter was perfect for engaging new conversation for the predominately male guests as he swiftly created portraits of John Lennon, Marilyn Monroe, Mohammad Ali and Elvis. The neoclassic space, formally Saint Marks Church, was intentionally decorated to compliment the brilliant colors of Olsen’s paintings. At the center of the space was a glowing white bar with a huge yellow vase of delphiniums and hydrangea reaching out towards the vaulted ceilings. Rainbows of light cascaded across the high pillars and gothic features that supported the wooden balconies above. With Brian’s set complete and displayed on alter, DJ Shailen commenced the event with his heart pumping tunes for dancing to the end of the evening. This was certainly an event to remember at an irreplaceable, historical and somewhat controversial venue in the heart of London.

This simply shows that anything is possible through creativity.

On  the recent 40th episode of “Pawn Stars”, dealer Rick Harrison and his motley son Corey purchased their third original Denny Dent painting; this time an original John Lennon for $4,500.00. Rick Harrison emphasized how Denny Dent had been coined the world’s only “Rock and Roll Painter”, and the first person to ignite performance art, high -speed painting.  Rick and his family say, “everything has a story and a price”, but my time working as Denny’s manager and learning and traveling with Denny was priceless.
